Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, on 2 July 2026, met over dinner with H.E. Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia, on the sidelines of the 39th Asia-Pacific Roundtable, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment to strengthening ASEAN tourism and cultural cooperation, advancing the implementation of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, the ASEAN Economic Community Strategic Plan 2026–2030, and the ASEAN Tourism Sectoral Plan 2026–2030. The discussions focused on enhancing regional connectivity, promoting sustainable and quality tourism, safeguarding cultural heritage, while developing a thriving cultural and creative industries ecosystem, strengthening engagement with Dialogue Partners of ASEAN, and fostering a more resilient, inclusive, and competitive ASEAN tourism and vibrant culture and arts sectors.
